After an exhaustive search for open-pollinated pie pumpkins across the internet and Seed Savers Exchange, Adaptive Seeds gathered 11 varieties, some heirlooms without descriptions. To explore their potential, they were grown together allowing them to cross, resulting in the Pumpkin Pie Party Mix! These fruits possess the classic color and shape of pie pumpkins, most weighing 2-7 lbs some as large as 10 lbs. Each variety was hand-picked for its taste. While there are some slight variations in flavor, flesh color, and texture, all of these pumpkins make for exceptional pies. Their parentage includes; Big Red California, Hondo Small Sugar Pumpkin, New England Sugar Pie, Paarman Sugar Pumpkin, Winter Luxury, Early Sweet Sugar Pie, and more, along with Cinnamon Girl PMR F1. This is a collaborative breeding project with Keegan Caughlin of Taproot Growers and Zea Sonnabend of Fruitilicious Farm. Adaptive Seeds is excited to see where it goes!
